Which car should I choose?

Choose by the number of people and the amount of luggage. The Honda Brio is small and easy to park in Ubud’s narrow streets, good for couples. The Toyota Raize is a compact SUV with more room and a higher seat. The Toyota Avanza and Daihatsu Xenia seat seven, which suits families and groups with bags.

What do I need to rent a car?

Foreign visitors only need a passport to rent. We photograph it and give it straight back. There is no deposit and no payment to book. We film the car’s condition with you at handover, and you return it with the same amount of fuel.

You do need a valid licence to drive. Indonesian law requires one for the vehicle class, and police do check, so we recommend an International Driving Permit with the car category, together with your home licence. Read our guide to the International Driving Permit.

When is a car better than a scooter in Bali?

A car is better when you have luggage, children, a group or a long drive. Scooters are quicker in town traffic and easier to park, but a car wins in these cases:

  • Airport arrivals and departures with suitcases.
  • Families with young children.
  • The rainy season, roughly November to March, when afternoon downpours are common.
  • Long day trips, for example to the north or east of the island.
  • Groups of three or more who want to travel together.

What is driving around Ubud like?

Driving around Ubud is slow but manageable. The central streets are narrow, some are one way, and traffic builds up in the late afternoon. Parking in the center can be tight, so park at your destination’s car park where there is one. Outside town the roads are quieter but winding and hilly. Bali drives on the left.

Do you deliver cars?

Yes. Delivery around Ubud is free for rentals of 3 days or more. Monthly rentals get free delivery anywhere in Bali and free airport pickup. Airport delivery is IDR 150,000 for rentals shorter than a month. Other delivery fees are quoted on WhatsApp before you book.

Is insurance included?

No. There is no insurance on our rentals. New damage is paid by the renter at the price on the official service invoice, not our own estimate. Check whether your travel insurance covers rental cars.

How do I pay?

You pay when you get the car, by cash, bank transfer, QRIS or card. To extend, message us on WhatsApp and we send a new invoice as a picture.

How do I book a car near Ubud?

Send your dates, the car you want and where you are staying on WhatsApp. We confirm availability and delivery. Prefer two wheels? See our bikes, or read the FAQ for all the terms.
